My starz know I am the biggest Beyonce fan but I was quite busy over the weekend and although I did catch the Super Bowl performance, her team was not paying me to really hop on here to talk about her new endeavors.
Initially there is enough gossip blogs covering that shit so I figure I would keep my opinions to myself.
I do want to speak on the Formation backlash though.
It’s not surprising that people are hating on Bey. That’s nothing new but her latest move really under white America’s skin.
Apparently they have an issue with her video for Formation (they claim it’s anti-police) although the video was subtly addressing police brutality and the killing of black people.
The Superbowl performance didn’t help…
Clearly she was paying tribute to the Black Panthers & Malcolm X. It was the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Black Panther Party for Self-Defense. Famous celebrities Chaka Khan & Chic’s Nile Rodgers were both proud Black Panther members.
It’s downright rubbish how showing black pride and embracing black culture always makes non blacks feel some kind of way.
The bigger issue is the fact that some white people can’t stand it when black people, famous or not, speak out against systematic racism.
They forget about the pain this country has inflicted on people of color and continues to do so today.
They won’t talk about innocent people being wrongly accused, hosed, tasered , maced and even murdered simply for being in the wrong place, in the wrong skin, at the wrong time.
People fear what they don’t know. And they don’t want to learn, so the fear grows. White media and crooked politicians know this hence why they are hyping this mess in the first place. They don’t want OUR people to be enlighten. They were fine with Beyonce shaking her ass for their entertainment. How DARE she speak up!!!
There this misconception that Black Panthers promoted the killings of police, just as it is so that Black Lives Matter means every other life doesn’t.
They are quick to turn a blind eye to injustice. Even when a black or non white person is murdered by police for no reason, it’s the victims that are treated as suspects. Hell they are setting up Gofundme accounts for cops who wrongfully murder innocent people.
Black pride — the message Beyoncé was trying to convey — means being proud of who your are, what you look like and where you come from.
Now the song itself is okay. I don’t LOVE the song but it did have a line in there that stuck with me and hopefully people will catch the tea and remember it..
You know you that bitch when you cause all this conversation
Always stay gracious, best revenge is your paper
The only way we will ever change anything in this country is if we get our money up, support our own businesses and educate our youth.
